His Rules

Armored men scream their battle cry
Heard by victors and those doomed to die
The iron clad warriors struggle and strain
Driven to see their enemies slain

Men battle atop steel covered steeds
Will their acts be remembered as heroic deeds
The dead and God know, neither will say
Bound to the law they will not betray

Honor your land, honor your father
Slay the enemy who is your brother

Axes cleave through heavy chain mail
Arrows plummet in a deadly hail
Shields become battered by vicious blows
Fallen bodies left for ravenous crows

A helmeted skull is crushed by a mace
Blood runs down a dead mans face
Mothers left weeping with nothing to say
Lost their sons to the rules they had to obey

Honor your land, honor your father
Slay the enemy who is your brother

Though kingdoms and people change with the ages
War continues to fill history’s blood soaked pages
Unknowing men death’s set of tools
To keep secure his set of rules

Honor your land, honor your father
Slay the enemy who is your brother
